ARTIST: ASHLEY DAVIS

Living just outside of Portland, OR- vintage has always been in style. However, as the idea is now exploding throughout the country it seemed appropriate for Ashley Davis, one of my dearest friends, to try her hand at re-enacting some famous photos of classic ladies. Grace Kelly, Rosie the Riveter, and Marilyn Monroe.

Ashley puts a worn, shabby-chic twist in all of her photography and looks for the exquisite in the ordinary. I was walking down town with her and she was fascinated by a mustard colored wall. Ranting about the simple beauty of it- she dug out her camera.

If you wish to check out more of her work you can find her Facebook page here.

ARTIST- MARC JOHNS

Marc johns, a Victoria, BC, Canada resident, is famed for his doodles upon post-it notes. Although the title of the book in which many of his works are published is called "Serious Drawings," his sketches are whimsical and dream worthy. Many of the subjects that he brings to life seem straight out of a wild child's imagination, for exampled a boombox with antlers. While the drawings seem outrageous at first, the content carries the truth within the comedy. The blantant innocent honesty in each of his pieces has grown on not only me but many others, some have even taken to getting his doodles tattooed upon them.
